Manufacturing Collaborative Advisory Committee
Manufacturing requires a set of skills and knowledge that is not presently offered as a focused or coherent course of study in high schools or community colleges. As a result, manufacturers spend significant time and money attempting to determine the aptitude of applicants for manufacturing positions, and training and developing current employees.
Until now, manufacturing workforce training initiatives have been stuck between the manufacturers asking the institutions to define what they could do and the institution asking the manufacturers to define what they need.
The Manufacturing Collaborative is changing that. Working with Western Nevada College and the Carson Manufacturer’s Forum (via Nevada Industry Excellence), the Collaborative has developed a curriculum designed to provide manufacturing employees the skills needed to succeed in Nevada’s workplace.
